MENU PLAN September Week 1

Labor Day Weekend – It is unofficial end of summer weekend.    My family says goodbye to summer and hello to fall all in one weekend.  This weekend marks our last time on the beach and our  first of many Saturday afternoons of college football (WAR EAGLE!) It is come to be our annual tradition to  usher in fall by taking a trip out to the country on Labor Day for an early morning  breakfast at our favorite maple sugar house Parker’s Maple Barn and then on our way home we pick apples at Lull Farm in Hollis, NH.  I love the change of seasons and you will notice my menus echo this sentiment.  This week’s grilling intermingles with spicy apples and chili.  September is a transition month and I am getting ready to transition my menus to the heartier fare of fall.  This week you will get a taste of what’s to come!  Hope you have a relaxing Labor Day!

LABOR DAY Spicy Turkey Burgers with Pickled Onions Sweet potato fries and corn on the cob.

MEATLESS TUESDAY (moved from Monday due to Labor Day Holiday) Vegetarian Chili with Organic Blue Corn Chips and a mixed greens salad with salsa as the dressing.

WEDNESDAY Chicken with Whole Grain Mustard and Zucchini Packets

THURSDAY Pork Loin Chops with Cinnamon Apples with Harvest Salad

FRIDAY Shrimp and Plum Kabobs with Brown Rice and Grilled Summer Squash

  1. Amy I can not thank you enough for posting menu plans! You have helped me to spur the cooking fresh thought pattern in my household. THANK YOU for taking the time to share you weekly plan, I rely on it to continue eating healthier than I was.

We’ve been following your meal plans for a month now. My 19 year-old nephew has been staying with us since April and has been wanting to eat healthy & loose pounds so he can join the military. In one month of following your meal plan at night, plus him walking daily, he has lost 25 pounds! 😀 I hope to report the same success once I get the exercise worked into this crazy schedule of life.

Again, thank you for all that you do. We are eternally grateful for your generosity and determination.

    • Carrie-
Thanks so much for sharing this wonderful news with me. My opinion is that nutrition makes up 70% of the exercise/diet equation. Keep eating clean whole foods, add some interval training and weights and reduce your stress, add time to take care of you and you will see results. Keep in touch!

  2. Amy,

My 14 year old daughter has found out that she has PCOS and was put on birth control to balance out her hormones and allow her to become regular. She has gained 15 pounds and is very unhappy. she has been following a low carb, high protein diet but doesn’t seem to be losing any weight. She was been sticking to about 20 carbs a day. HELP – I’m not sure why she isn’t losing weight as she is very disciplined with what she is eating. I just came across your website and hope to learn more about the Clean Eating Approach.

    • Linda-
I think 20 carbs a day is too low. Try following my menu plans. Lots of veggies, fruit, whole grains and legumes are very important.
