Hair fall is very common among men and women for many reasons. Causes range from weak hair strands because it lacks nutrients, to genetics, to an underlying medical reason like PCOS. Whatever the reason, it is no good.

- Hot Oil Massage
Hot oil is one of the most practical and should be the first step that you can take to reduce hair loss. Massaging the scalp with the right hair oil can increase blood flow and condition the hair follicles. This practice also increases hair roots and promotes relaxation. You can use coconut oil, olive oil, almond oil, castor oil and others to massage your hair and promote hair growth. Simply pour the warm oil on you palm and apply it to your hair. Use light pressure with your fingertips so that the oil penetrates the scalp.

Since onion is a known antibacterial ingredient, it is used to help scalp infection which also leads to hair loss. You can extract onion juice by grating an onion and straining out the juice. Apply the juice directly to the scalp and leave it on for 30 minutes, then wash and shampoo your hair.

It is rich in phosphorus, Vitamin B and C as well as potassium and carbohydrates. You can drink beetroot juice on a regular basis to promote hair growth, but you can also use the leaves and apply it to your hair. Simply boil the leaves and make a paste. Then apply the beetroot paste into your hair and leave it for 30 minutes. Rinse and let your hair dry.
- Eat Foods Rich in Iron
Iron deficiency can be a cause for excessive hair loss. Thus, you should eat foods high in iron to promote hair growth. Some foods high in iron include leafy vegetables, blackstrap molasses, leeks, cashews, figs and berries.
- Rosemary Oil
Rosemary Oil helps replace the lost nutrients in your hair due to infections. It works at the root of the hair, which is where many problems arise, and by addressing this part of the hair, it allows a healthy hair growth. Simply add a few drops of rosemary oil to coconut fat or lard and then massage your hair to promote hair growth. The process of using rosemary for hair growth is easy and can be done on a regular basis.
- Nutrient Boost
There are natural minerals such as zinc and silica which are also useful in promoting hair growth. To be more specific, the good sources of zinc can be found in red meat, beans, nuts, seafood and even dairy products. Silica can be found in oatmeal and cereals too. So boosting hair growth is not just by directly applying certain products to your hair but also having a balanced and healthy diet as well.
- Sour Curd
Sour curd gives a smooth, shiny and soft finish to your hair. Just apply the sour curd directly into your hair, especially the scalp, or mix 2 tablespoons of curds in honey and apply it to your hair. The hair mask should be left for 30 minutes into your hair, then wash.
- Fenugreek
Fenugreek is rich in nicotinic acid and protein which help strengthen the hair shaft and promote hair growth. Just soak the fenugreek in water overnight and then grind the seeds in the morning until you can create a paste. Directly apply the paste into your hair and let it sit for an hour. Rinse your hair thoroughly.

Hibiscus has natural properties that not only promote wellness in the body but treats hair loss, promotes hair growth, and helps treat dandruff as well. Just add 10 hibiscus flowers into 2 cups of coconut oil and heat the solution. After heating, strain the oil and apply it to your hair before going to sleep and wash it in the morning.

I use rosemary oil – just add to my shampoo, and I also do a deep oil massage. I am looking for the best “not to greasy” oil to use for a hot oil treatment. I have oily hair all on it’s own – I don’t need to add to it. Haha.
Have you tried Castor Oil Corrie Ann? I’m curious about trying it.
I also have psoriasis on my scalp. Would any of these help as well?
Amy – I have not – yet. I plan on beginning this in the next month. Castor oil and rosemary essential oil. My concern has been about getting it all out of my hair afterwards. My scalp is oily to begin with, so I don’t need anything on top of it. I’ll let you know.
That is my concern too!
I’ll be the guinea pig. :o)
Have you tried Morrocco Method? It is very healing for the scalp.
Thank you for all of the tips! How often would you recommend doing these?
