PCOS Friendly Apple Recipes for This Week-end
I love everything about fall: the smell, the food, the weather, the food…
Fall inspires me to reclaim my kitchen and start making warm, cozy foods with locally harvested fruits and vegetables.
Eating with the season is an important part of the PCOS diet. Eating locally grown food in accordance to the seasons helps to create balance in your body.
As we head into cooler nights and shorter days, I turn to warming autumn harvest foods including squash, sweet potatoes, carrots, parsnips, onions and garlic. My cooking also emphasizes warming spices such as ginger, cardamom, chili powder, and cinnamon. Fall fruits like pears, apples and figs become a staple for snacks. My Seasonal Meal Plans are a delicious guide to eating with the season.
Right now, apples are in season, and I am never without inspiration of ways to use them.
Apple Pie and Apple Oatmeal Spice Cake are delightful seasonal indulgences. While the ingredients are all PCOS friendly, they should be savored once in a while, not as every day desserts.
Here are 4 of my favorite apple creations. Enjoy!
