Announcing the PCOS Diva | PCOS Challenge Confidence Grant
PCOS Diva has teamed up with PCOS Challenge to offer a series of grants for women with PCOS dealing with hirsutism (unwanted, male-pattern hair growth in women). This is a symptom near and dear to my heart since I struggled with it for all of my adult life until I underwent laser hair removal. The procedure truly helped me regain my self-esteem and confidence. It is my honor to sponsor this grant that will help other women regain their sense of femininity and happiness.
Sasha Ottey, Executive Director of PCOS Challenge, Inc. offered to answer many of the questions that candidates are sure to ask:
- Who is PCOS Challenge?
PCOS Challenge, Inc. is the leading 501(c)(3) nonprofit support organization advancing the cause for women with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome, serving nearly 35,000 members. The organization’s mission is to raise public awareness about PCOS and help girls and women with the condition overcome their symptoms and reduce their risk for life-threatening related diseases such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease and cancer. Since PCOS Challenge began its programs in 2009, the organization has helped many women find answers that have helped them overcome their struggles with infertility, weight gain, hirsutism, anxiety and depression and other PCOS related symptoms.
- What programs do you offer to help women with PCOS?
PCOS Challenge provides support and education for women and girls through PCOS workshops, radio shows, magazine and video content as well as The PCOS Awareness Symposium, which brings together clinicians, researchers, hundreds of women with PCOS and their supporters for a day of sharing experiences, insights and the latest updates about PCOS. Women and girls with PCOS can join our online network at PCOSChallenge.com and get updates about all of our programs.
- What is the PCOS Confidence Grant? Who does it help and what is it for?
As part of a multi-year endowment from PCOS Diva, PCOS Challenge, Inc. will be offering grants of up to $500 to help women and girls struggling with hair and skin issues related to Polycystic Ovary Syndrome. The Confidence Grant assists with the costs associated with dermatology treatments, laser hair removal or electrolysis. Many of these treatments such as electrolysis and laser hair removal are not being covered by insurance.
PCOS Challenge is proud to partner with Amy Medling and PCOS Diva for The PCOS Diva/PCOS Challenge Confidence grant. We are excited about the opportunity to help grant awardees to experience improved self-esteem. Every woman and girl deserves to feel confident and comfortable in her own skin.
